It's Just a Computer...

3rd June 2026

With nearly 30 years of experience designing and building high-end media systems for both our OEM clients and our own DVS range of Uni-Platform media servers, delivering faultless pixel output while running complex third-party software, is no small achievement. Even more challenging, and sometimes just for fun, is loading two or three different media playback applications onto the same system and getting them to communicate and operate seamlessly together. Yet, the common response is often, "It's just a computer."

The reality is that designing and integrating hardware technology capable of operating reliably and robustly in demanding real-world environments is neither accidental nor a matter of luck. It requires a deep understanding of the workflows that underpin the complete solution. Success comes not from simply providing a product that performs well in isolation, but from delivering a system that integrates effectively into a wider operational ecosystem.

This knowledge has been built over decades of learning, refinement, and practical application, rooted in the fundamental principles of the broadcast industry. Broadcast engineering has always demanded reliability, resilience, and precision, and it remains the benchmark from which we draw guidance, validation, and best practice today.

Technology evolves, software changes, and operational requirements become increasingly complex, but the foundations remain the same: understand the workflow, understand the environment, and design solutions that work consistently where they matter most.

Using this wealth of knowledge and experience, combined with a deep understanding of computer hardware, software, and modern operational workflows, we continue to add significant value to our Uni-Platform Media Servers.

Our approach extends far beyond simply supplying hardware. We develop and integrate powerful setup, operational, and management software that simplifies deployment, enhances reliability, and improves day-to-day system management. These tools are designed from real-world experience, addressing the practical challenges faced by operators, engineers, and system integrators in demanding environments.

By understanding not only the technology itself but also how it is used, maintained, and supported throughout its lifecycle, we create solutions that reduce complexity, streamline workflows, and maximise operational efficiency. The result is a platform that delivers more than performance alone—it provides confidence, control, and a superior user experience.

This is where decades of broadcast and media systems expertise make the difference. The hardware may be powerful, but it is the combination of intelligent software, proven workflows, and industry knowledge that transforms a computer into a professional media platform.

DVS Overseer Software

As a value-added benefit of investing in the DVS Uni-Platform Media Server range, DVS Overseer software is included at no additional cost.

Designed specifically for engineers and technical operators, Overseer provides a powerful suite of configuration, monitoring, and management tools for DVS G-SERIES, SWARM and HYDRA servers. By simplifying system administration and providing greater visibility into server status and performance, Overseer helps users maintain reliable and efficient operation across their media infrastructure.

DVS servers connected to a local network can be automatically discovered and accessed through the Overseer graphical user interface (GUI). The application can be run directly from a DVS server or from a separate production workstation, providing flexibility for both local and remote management workflows.

More than just a monitoring utility, Overseer is an evolving platform. Driven by feedback from our experienced and demanding client base, new features and enhancements are continually being developed to address real-world operational requirements. This collaborative approach ensures that Overseer continues to grow alongside the changing needs of the media, broadcast, and live production industries.

By combining powerful functionality with ease of use, DVS Overseer delivers the tools engineers need to configure, manage, and monitor their systems with confidence.

DVS Imaging and Recovery Tool ( IaRT )

The DVS Imaging and Recovery Toolkit allows operators to easily manage the configuration of our universal platform hardware.

This tool is installed on the main operating system disk in our servers, replacing the default Windows recovery environment. This allows operators to switch between different base server operating system images, depending on the project or system setup they require.

Our universal platform media server range, the G-SERIES, SWARM and HYDRA come with our Deployment Licence as standard.

Key Features

Factory Reset - Allows the server to be reset to the configuration that was initial on the server on initial delivery.

IaRT App - Our Windows application that allows management and deployment directly from windows. Allowing you to select either the factory image, a DVS image, or a custom image ( licence depending ) from within the application and fire and forget from here. When the deployment action is taken, the system automatically reboots into the recovery environment, re-images the server, and boots back up into the new configuration.

DVS Overseer Integration - The features in the IaRT App are also accessible through Overseer if you have an active licence, allowing you to deploy images remotely from other systems through the Overseer GUI interface.

DVS Prebuilt Image Deployment - For our Universal platform servers ( G-SERIES, SWARM and HYDRA ) we build specific images for various supported configurations ( e.g WATCHOUT, Pixera, Resolume etc ) allowing these servers to change configuration in minutes to support a different media server applications.

Licence Management - This feature allows you to manage specific licence files for supported software ( e.g Dante Virtual Soundcard, Pixera .lic files ) that are stored on the recovery partition, these licences are redeployed to the server after the imaging process to reactivate required software products.

Custom Images - As part of our Deployment Plus licence, you can also capture custom images, allowing you to build your own internal library of configurations for any use case. The only limit is the storage space of the recovery partition.
